SIKESTON -- Sam William Chadd, 74, died Dec. 8, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born April 24, 1932, in Kewanee, son of the late William Melvin and Dorothy Lucille Lands Chadd, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War and had worked for the Sikeston Fire Department for 30 years before retiring.

On March 10, 1956, he married Helen Louise Tarpley Chadd who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, John Alan Chadd of Forrest City, Ark., and Lance Chadd of Sikeston; one daughter, Angela Garcia of Sikeston; one brother, Russell Chadd of Clarksville, Tenn.; one sister, Shirley Ward of Sikeston; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Sammy David Chadd; one brother, Louis Chadd; and one sister, Mable Ritchie.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday.

Burial with full military rites will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
