Your view: Defending DPS

Thursday, November 9, 2006

I am writing this letter in showing my support for the Sikeston DPS. A recent caller to SpeakOut was upset with the number of officers that were assigned to the streets.

Chief Juden has done a wonderful job with making sure all the officers are trained well and he has their interests and the citizens of Sikeston at heart.

I would say there is not amount of money that is enough for the hassle that the DPS officers get when they respond to certain calls. They have to be peace makers, social workers and sometimes what they do is not good enough for the person that called them in the first place. You cannot please everyone all the time, but they try to do the right thing.

I also look at their headquarters and think they need a new one bad. I hope the city council will keep that in mind.

I also know that Chief Juden will listen and try to solve any problem the community has with the DPS. Just attend one of the city council meetings and let them know your views.

Volunteer to be on one of the city boards. This is what I have done. Be a part of the solution, get involved and see what happens.

Thank you to all the DPS officers for what you do every day and night.
