Wendell Stephenson
WESTVILLE, Ill. -- Wendell Wayne Stephenson, 92, died at 2:15 a.m. Nov. 9, 2006, at his daughter's home in Sikeston, Mo.
Born Jan. 10, 1914, in Georgetown, son of the late Charles and Myrta Summers Stephenson, he was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Georgetown and a graduate of Georgetown High School. He was employed as a tool and die maker then later was self-employed in the automotive repair and farm implement business until retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Danville, a Georgetown Lion's Club member and a volunteer of the former St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville.
On Dec. 31, 1936, in Elmira, N.Y., he married Josephine Roedl who preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 1936.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell and Virginia Stephenson of Laquinta, Calif., and Mike and Donna Stephenson of Ridge Farm; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and George Shadden of Westville, Kay and Ron Reiter of Festus, Mo., Sharon and Mike Chouinard of Sikeston and Mary Jo Huisman of Eugene, Ore.; one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Robert Winkle of Georgetown; and 23 grandchildren, 31 great-
grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Georgetown.
Burial will follow in Vermilion Grove Cemetery in Ridge Farm.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel of Sikeston is in charge of local arrangements.
