LAFORGE - George Harp McVay, 91, died April 13, 2006, at Sells Nursing Center in Matthews.

Born Nov. 1, 1914, in Winston County, Ala., son of the late Joseph L. and Senia F. McVay, he was a retired farmer and ran a cotton gin for 17 years in LaForge. He was a deacon of the Baptist church and a Past Master of Masons.

On Feb. 25, 1940, in Doniphan, he married Johnnie Gordon Beeson who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel E. and Linda McVay of Jackson and George Byron and Tani of Centralia; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Diane and Charlie Cain of Brinkley, Ark.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, three brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the New Madrid Baptist Church. The Revs. Gene Lancaster and Ted Wimberly will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

Honorary pallbearers will be the active and inactive deacons of the New Madrid Baptist Church.
