Harold Gisi

ESSEX - Harold Hubert Gisi, 83, died June 23, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 14, 1922, at rural Essex to the late Edmond Perry Gisi and Mary Iva Morrison Gisi, he was a member of the Hopewell General Baptist Church near Essex and a retired farmer. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in World War II.

He was united in marriage to Hazel Coffey on March 1, 1944, at Piggott, Ark., and to this union two sons were born.

Survivors include: his wife, Hazel Gisi of the home near Essex; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Carolyn Gisi and Perry Gisi of Essex; two brothers, Charles Gisi and Wilbert Gisi of Essex; three sisters, Ethel French of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Stella Gisi and Jo Hice of Dexter; one granddaughter, Carrie Stephens and her husband, Major Owen Stephens of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Avondale, Ariz.; and one great-granddaughter, Chelsea Stephens of Avondale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Gisi, Glennon Gisi and Eugene Gisi.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Martin Goode will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
