SIKESTON - It was a rainy day, a perfect day for play and not so perfect for work. Callie, 5, and her sister, Mecca, 3, took time to give their brand new umbrellas a try Tuesday afternoon. Although they kept their heads dry, their feet still managed to find a few puddles. The youngsters are the daughters of Jeff and Debbie Maevers of Marston.

NEW MADRID - Students taking part in the MEDAL Parents Support Group sponsored classes this week at New Madrid Elementary School have had a variety of courses to choose from. One popular class is Fun With Science, where youngsters have conducted experiments and had the opportunity to get a close up look at cells and other components of nature.

SIKESTON - Earl Brown, with the city of Sikeston, tightens bolts on the newly-installed scoreboard at the Sikeston Sports Complex Monday afternoon. Along with the new scoreboard, the fences were moved back 20 feet, the mound was built higher, and the public address system was installed in preparation for the state Bambino Tournament.
