SIKESTON - A daughter named Mary E. was born July 6 to Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Pinnar of Sikeston. She was the fourth child.

July 19, 1968

NEW MADRID - Talent show winners for 4-H Clubs of New Madrid County at the annual Achievement Day Fair, held last night in the New Madrid High School, were the Shamrock Leprechauns, a singing group from Portageville. Joyce Brands, Janet Hulshof, Rene DeLisle, Donna Klipfel, Julia Alsobrook and Rita Jo DeLisle were members of the group.

COMMERCE - As a child, Katherine Beardslee must have had an active imagination. As a woman - about 15 years ago - she began making things from rocks. Mrs. Beardslee isn't a sculptor or a mason. As she wanders through the woods and long creeks, she just lets her mind wander, too. And she sees things in the stones. And sooner or later those rocks become little works of art. "Whatever they look like, that's what I make," she said.

SIKESTON - H.R.H. (His Royal Highness) Dumplin's, a specialty bake shop in Sikeston, was recently recognized for its first year anniversary in business. The first customer of the day was Margaret Allen, who was joined by the founders at the grand entrances.

SIKESTON - Dan Beussink, general chairman for the 46th Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, holds one of the 24 million cans that Pepsi issued to advertise the rodeo. Pepsi, who is a sponsor of the rodeo, will be sending the can for the next five years to Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky.
