CHARLESTON -- Amanda Lynn Johnson and Dr. Steven Eric Scallions were united in marriage during a 5 p.m. ceremony May 3, 2008, at the Charleston Baptist Church in Charleston with Martin Lucas, pastor, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gilliam of East Prairie, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Scallions of Memphis, Tenn.

Jerry Ford provided music for the wedding ceremony on the trumpet while Mrs. Beverly Reece accompanied him on the piano. Lori Beth Hogan of Nashville, Tenn., was the soloist who performed during the lighting of the unity candle.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her stepfather, the bride selected an ivory silk dutchess gown by couture designer Rita Vineris of Rivini. The spaghetti strap, A-line gown featured ornate Swarovski crystal beading on the straps and bodice that were hand set. The chapel train was embellished with a gore and hem treatment of the same intricately beaded design. The look was completed with a fingertip veil of Swarovski crystals and bezel set earrings.

The bride carried a round bouquet of 24 long stem red roses with a champagne sash wrapped around the stems. The bride's sister, Audrey Johnson, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Maggie McTigue, cousin of the bride; Hunter Oliver, friend of the bride; and Cortney Taylor, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids wore formal black, full-length, strapless gowns. Each bridesmaid wore a champagne sash wrapped around their waist held with a crystal broche. They carried round bouquets of ivory roses with a champagne ribbon tied around the stems.

Flower girl was Anna Kylee Gilliam, sister of the bride, and junior bride was Annalise Albonetti, niece of the bridegroom. The candle lighter was Brittney Woodward, cousin of the bride. Adrianne Harvey, cousin of the bride, served as guest book attendant.

Chad Coates, friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Ryan Johnson, brother of the bride; Sabin Ewing, friend of the bridegroom; and Joe David Hamblen, friend of the bridegroom. Junior groomsmen were Connor Albonetti, nephew of the bridegroom, and Chandler McTigue, cousin of the bride. Ring bearer was Maxwell Tate Gilliam, brother of the bride. Ushers were Cameron Woodward and Jarrod Hutcheson, both cousins of the bride.

A dinner and dance reception followed at the home of Steve and Angie Jones.

One the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom's parents at Susie's Restaurant in Sikeston.

The new Mrs. Scallions is a graduate of East Prairie High School. She received a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Southeast Missouri State University. She also completed a Cardiovascular Perfusion program at Vanderbilt University.

Scallions is a graduate of the University of Memphis where he received his Bachelor of Science. He later graduated from the University of Tennessee in Memphis with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

The couple are making their home in Nashville.
