CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston Bulldog soccer team dropped its third straight contest on Friday afternoon as they fell to the Cape Central Tigers 3-0 in the Notre Dame Soccerfest.

From the opening kick, the Bulldogs matched up well with Cape Central and held the Tigers scoreless in the first half of play. The second half was much different however, as the more experienced Cape Central squad pulled out their offensive weapons scoring three goals in 17 minutes.

Zach Zaruba got things going at the 60-minute mark off of an assist from Andrew Shuport. Josh Compass then scored two goals, one at the 70-minute mark and one at the 77-minute mark. Zaruba assisted the first goal while Jesse Lawrence made the assist on the second.

The Tigers outnumbered the Bulldogs in shots-on-goal as they racked up 16 to Sikeston's 7.

"We had the score 0-0 at half," said coach Doyle Noe after the game. "We wore down in the second half and fell to the top seed in the tournament. We're a young team but we're improving each game."

Noe said that Jason Isaacs had a great game in goal for the Bulldogs.

Sikeston was scheduled to play Poplar Bluff on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the consolation game.
