I want to start out this month's article by expressing our sympathy to the American Legion and the Floyd family on the loss of American Legion Commander Larry Floyd. Larry was not only important to the American Legion but to the Sikeston and Miner communities because of his volunteerism on so many area projects. He was a long time participant and supporter of the Chamber's Redneck Barbecue and he will be sorely missed when the 2009 event rolls around in April. Larry was "just a good guy "and we at the chamber will miss him. Despite the loss of our American Legion Commander, Cotton Carnival week began and it was a great event. Congratulations to our American Legion Post and thank you once again for putting on an outstanding carnival and parade.
