SIKESTON -- Raymond Coatney, 68, passed away Oct. 2, 2008, at his home in Sikeston.

He was born Aug. 21, 1940, in Charter Oak, son of the late James Wayne and Lola Mae (Goodwin) Coatney. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a Sikeston business owner for 20 years; Louise's Super Cut -- Beauty Supply and Hair & Tanning Salon, and he had been a truck driver for Schwerman Trucking.

On Oct. 26, 1963, in Oran, he married Louise Whittley, and she survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond Scott Coatney of Dexter and Mark Shawn and Dannett Coatney of Sikeston; one daughter, Lisa Dawn Coatney of Sikeston; two brothers, Wayne Junior Coatney of Farmington and Phillip Lynn Landers of Morehouse; one stepsister, Bonnie Hann of Dexter; and four grandchildren, Connor Shawn Coatney, Grayson Seth Coatney, Tara Katarina Coatney and Lynley Reece Coatney.

He was preceded in death by one stepbrother, Earl William "Butch" Landers, Jr.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home with parish prayers at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Scott Sunnenberg and Monsignor Bill Stanton will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with full military honors.
