High speed chase ends with arrest

SIKESTON -- A man was apprehended Friday morning following a high speed chase that began in Morehouse and ended on Interstate 55, just north of Sikeston.

According to DPS officials, the pursuit began late Friday morning in Morehouse after the suspect allegedly stole alcohol from a business there. Officers followed him into Sikeston on Highway 114 at a speed of around 40 miles per hour. DPS officers assisted in the pursuit and the suspect raised his speed, continuing to travel on Malone Avenue. The suspect then got onto Interstate 55 and was taken into custody around the 73-mile marker.
