Scott County Central Elementary Principal Timothy Thompson was the palate for some young painters who also proved to be top-notch readers. Thompson challenged the students in second through sixth grade to read a minimum of eight books during September, score at least 80 percent on their accelerated reading tests over what they read and score 90 percent on their reading for buildingwide. The students not only met his challenge but exceeded it reading 1,627 books. Taking a cue from the challenge title, "Reading Paints a Vivid Picture," the top readers in each grade got to paint Thompson in a special assembly Friday afternoon.
