David R. Harris

PORTAGEVILLE -- David R. Harris, 88, died Nov. 10, 2008, at the Portageville Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 6, 1919, in Lexington, Miss., he was the son of the late Sebron and Eliza Sample Harris.

In 1952, at Lexington, he married Mary Jones who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, David A. Harris of Chicago; three daughters, Barbara Johnson of Dorant, Miss., Johnnie Mae Woods of Indianapolis and Daisy Few of Chicago; and 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Monroe Harris; two daughters, Jessie Mae Harris and Lillie Hart; two brothers, Morris Harris and Robert Harris; and six sisters, Angaline Greer, Laura Unger, Pastel Torry, Minnie Crockrell, Lizzy Griffen and Katie Williamson.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at DeLisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Neal officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
