Nov. 30, 1948

SIKESTON - The first baby to arrive at Missouri Delta Community Hospital was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hazel and was delivered by Dr. A.D. Martin.

Nov. 30, 1968

SIKESTON - Two bids on a proposed new airport building were taken under advisement after being read to the city council during its regular monthly meeting last night. Ryan Construction Co. of Sikeston and Brown Construction Co. of Dexter both submitted bids. No action was taken on the bids at the request of the airport board.

Nov. 30, 1988

SIKESTON - The former manager of the Sikeston Memorial Airport has filed an injunctive relief petition against turning over the operation to another manager. The city decided to privatize the airport by bidding out the operation last summer. Kevin Ward, the manager until last month, and Perry Jolliff, who operates a flight school at the airport, were the only two who provided bids.

SIKESTON - The Daily Standard is beginning its second year of collecting donated toys for the Toys for Tots program, a joint effort between the newspaper, the Scott County Division of Family Services and the Salvation Army. Two hundred fifty families and foster children in Scott County were provided gifts last year.

SIKESTON - Members of the Sikeston Veterans Park Committee recently planted and dedicated a tree in the memory of Leroy Parmenter. Parmenter was a member of the Veterans Park Committee and was named Man of the Year earlier this year.

NEW MADRID - Athleticism prevailed in the second session of the Fifth Annual Riverbend Classic Friday night. Memphis East set the tone for the night with a spirited 74-68 triumph over Alton, followed by West Memphis rolling past New Madrid County Central 53-41 , then Vashon cruising past Charleston 74-47.
