From rich to the poor

It would save time. Couldn't Sikeston's rich simply give cash to Sikeston's poor rather than having to send it to the government and work its way back through multiple layers of bureaucracy?

Rover will pass over

This is in responses to the SpeakOut on 11/09/08 about dogs and cats. The person wrote saying that "animals do not have souls" and that they wouldn't donate money to help animals, that they would rather spend their money on needy children. Well that's all fine and dandy. I 100 percent support helping children in need, but I disagree with them when they said that animal's don't have souls and do not need our help. Just like children, homeless dogs and cats are also in need of our help. Just like children, dogs and cats did not ask to be born, they were all created by God. And anything that God creates is a gift. This person might should adopt a homeless animal so they could experience all the love a dog or a cat can bring into your life. Animals have souls just like humans, it's evident to every animal owner. My dog brings so much joy and love to my every day. I feel terrible for anyone who doesn't get to experience that.

Pay the piper

Believe me, all the nonsensical allegations that Barack was the antichrist, etc., were not from people who will be receiving a tax break or second stimulus check from the government. They were members of Sikeston's cynical super rich who will now (at some point) pay the piper.

According to Webster

I looked in a dictionary of phrases for the meaning of "albatross around one's neck" and "elephant in the room," and both entries said, "See Sarah Palin."

Looking for a raker

If anyone is interested in raking leaves to the curb, please put your name in SpeakOut.

Figure it out

Twelve years of a Republican Congress, eight years of George Bush, gasoline $4 a gallon. Two years of a Democrat Congress, gasoline $1.98 a gallon. Now figure that one out for yourselves Republicans.

Faster not always better

I would like to pass a word of caution to those who are considering surgery in these fast-moving times. They should realize that there are many new procedures being promoted because they are faster, but they are not necessarily safer. A great majority of these surgeries have not been proven to be safe, as some patients can tell you about. When a surgery is performed, when a surgeon enters one area to get to another area, this disturbs many nerves that control major functions of the body. Surgeons may tell you it is better and faster and not as long a stay in the hospital, which the insurance company loves. Some are not qualified to perform these new procedures. If a mistake is made, the patient is the one left with permanent damage for the rest of their life. Sometimes the cure is far worse than the original problem. It is best to always get a second opinion and sometimes a third one. In emergency situations this is not always possible.

Safer with gates

I am calling in regards to the speakout, Take down the gates. I am one of these so-called imprisoned that live in Kea Lani Court in Benton. The people that moved into this community knew that the gates were up way before they even moved in. These gates, to me as a person that lives in Kea Lani Court, offer me safety for my children. We feel the gates are great and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Looking for the best

The world couldn't get any worse than it is right now. The best is coming in 2009. I hope Obama fixes all you millionaires.

Take care of junior

This is for the divorced dad in Sikeston. Don't throw the baby out with the ex-wife. A warm coat on the back of a stranger will not keep your child warm. Faith without works is dead. Be a man and take care of your children, even if you don't live with them.

Loss of morale

I wonder why some companies go backward instead of forward? For several years we have worked for a company that believed in keeping employees morale up therefore getting more and better quality work out of them. Now they seem to be going back in time where employees will work 21 turn getting only one weekend a month off to spend with their families. They won't get to enjoy their kids growing up just like it was with us older guys back 15 years ago. That shift kills the morale of the workers and also affects their concern for the company and causes loss of production. It is sad when a company is not concerned with their employees just because we have not signed a contract. A concerned member of Local 7686
