LILBOURN -- Frank William Ash, 75, died Dec. 9, 2008.

Born Dec. 28, 1932, in Braggadocio, to the late George and Rillie Fowler Ash, he was the mayor of Lilbourn for two years. He retired from Curtis Industries in Cleveland, Ohio, after 35 years and was also the owner of the Lilbourn Pawn Shop. He served in the Marines from 1950 to 1953 and earned two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, Korean Service Award and Infantry Service Award. A member of the Masonic Lodge of Rockford, Ill., where he received the 50-year pin, he also belonged to the Moolah Shrine of St. Louis.

On Dec. 25, 1949, in Caruthersville, he married Opal Babb, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sheree and Dave Motherwell of St. Charles, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jackie Ash of Lilbourn; two brothers, Alvie Ash and Melvin Ash; four sisters, Opal Johnson, Lou Hueppauff, Freida Hite and Shirley Groves; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Cara and Marc Gouker, Justin and Tina Franklin, Terry Ash, Barry and Melba Ash, Brett Motherwell, Ashley Motherwell, Joey Ash, Ashlee Ash, Brandy Ash, Brian and Christine Motherwell and Tricia and Josh Ullrich; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were siblings Elmer Ash, Wilburn Ash, J.D. Ash, Annie Ash and Margie Ash.

Visitation will be from noon Friday until time of services at 2 p.m. Friday at the Richards Funeral Chapel in New Madrid.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
