Call forwarding

Mike, this is what I get for going through all the proper channels when it came to a problem with a school bus my grandson rides to kindergarten here in Sikeston, which was nothing but a run around. I first called the principal at the school and was advised to call the bus garage, which I did. After a few minutes explaining to the director what the problem is his tone of voice changed and he told me that he would check into this. That was three weeks ago. Same problem exists today. So I called the Board of Education and was told to call the principal. I did one more time just to get as far as the secretary. Guess what? I was advised to call the bus garage again because there was nothing they could do. I asked them to just call for me and they said they weren't allowed to. I lost all respect that day for anyone that worked with our children that just didn't give a damn.

Hail to the king

If the SpeakOut phone doth ring, don't worry; 'tis not the SpeakOut king. Though he doth still moan and whine, he submits all SpeakOut gripes online.

Making noise

I was wondering if Sikeston has a group that goes around and enforces the noise ordinance. I have lived here for about six months. I live in a corner house on the west end of town. I cannot believe the noise I'm having to deal with. I'm from Kansas City and they had a noise enforcement unit. I've called the police, but I've yet to see an officer and no one has come to my house to ask me about my complaint. I have a sick mother that doesn't sleep well, day or night. When she does get to sleep, it's very precious. I also have to rest at the same time she does. It starts at 5:30 every evening and goes to 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning.

Pass or fail

I wonder if the Kezer man who wants a new trial in the death of Mrs. Lawless took a lie detector test. If he did and passed it, he wouldn't be where he is today. If he did take one and failed, of course they couldn't bring it up in court. Every court case I have ever seen on TV, if someone takes a polygraph test and passes, they don't even look at that person again.

Have you got a case

Whoever picked up the tool case that fell off the glass truck, if they would, please return it to the people whose name is on the inside. It was a Father's Day present and it cannot be replaced.

Face it, you're broke

I would like to comment about the car companies that are in trouble. I think it is the stupidest thing I ever heard of to give them a bailout. What about the newspaper? If it goes under does it get a bailout? No, it has to file bankruptcy. If a farmer gets in trouble, what happens to them? They have to file bankruptcy. What about your local small shoes store, what happens to them? They have to file bankruptcy. Face the facts, you're broke. And who's going to pay for it - the American taxpayer. Stupid!
