Robbery victim dies

SIKESTON - Four Sikeston men are in custody for December robbery that became homicide after a victim died from his injuries.

Linnie Lee Andrews, who was struck in the head during a home invasion on Dec. 7, died Thursday at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, the initial robbery report was received around 8:45 p.m. Dec. 7. DPS officers responded to 504 Lanning St. where the victims said they answered a knock at their front door and some subjects entered wearing ski masks and brandishing handguns. The suspects struck 45-year-old Linnie Andrews and 29-year-old Dewayne Andrews in the head with their pistols.

At the scene, officers found Linnie Andrews unresponsive. South Scott County Ambulance transported him to an awaiting Air Evac helicopter which flew him to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment.

Dewayne Andrews was treated at the scene for a laceration above his right eye.

Dewayne Andrews told officers the subjects stole money from him during the robbery. There were several other people, including small children, inside the home during the robbery, but no one else was injured.

Maurice J. Robinson, 29, and Julius T. Hudson, 22, were arrested Dec. 7 for their alleged part in the incident.

Around 3 p.m. Christmas Day, DPS Chief Drew Juden organized search teams to look for the two remaining suspects, Sikeston residents Fabayan L. Larry, 22, and Jeremiah Watson, 30. Larry and Watson were charged Dec. 11 with robbery, but their whereabouts at that time were unknown.

A few hours after implementing the search teams, Watson turned himself in to DPS.

Several hours later, the SEMO Major Case Squad was activated in an effort to apprehend Larry. Around 11:15 p.m., officers located Larry hiding at a hotel in Charleston, where he was taken into custody.

All four men are charged with first degree robbery, first degree assault, first degree burglary and armed criminal action. According to Sgt. Jim McMillen with the death of Linnie Andrews, the charges are likely to be amended.

Currently, all four are in custody in lieu of $50,000 cash only bond.

McMillen noted medical examiners are still attempting to determine the cause of death of Linnie Andrews.
