A day to read

This is from all the retired people that live at Pharris Ridge. We love living out here. We can go two or three days without getting a newspaper and then we get them all in one day. Then we just sit all day and read the news.

Be positive

This is to you all people writing in the newspaper saying all these hateful and negative remarks about Obama and his wife and all the picks he made for his cabinet. Get over it. Missouri chose wrong, the rest of the country chose right. Let's get on with our country, do something good and say something positive about the fella. Give him a chance. Stop being bitter.

I've got a crush on you

In today's paper (Sunday) there was a comment on how to rid yourself or cockroaches. Another safe way is a mixture of one part powdered chocolate like used in milk and three parts of cornstarch mixed well. Place where the varmints are. When they eat it, the starch will make them thirsty, and absorb several times its weight in water, crushing the little boogers from the inside out. Neat and non-poisonous.

Truly a gift

I would like to publicly commend the First Assembly of God Church of Sikeston on their production of "A Smokey Mountain Christmas Story - The Gift". The play was very inspirational. The amount of work that went into the props was very evident. The music was wonderful. Somewhere in here I must also mention I was thoroughly entertained. The fellowship and meal after the production was very good. I couldn't believe all this was offered to anyone who wanted to attend at no cost. I wish everyone in the Sikeston area could have received the blessing from this production. Thanks First Assembly of God Church and everyone who took part in making this possible for us. Happy Holidays!

A bad Winter

I would like to agree with the party that made the comment about the lack of drainage on Winter Drive. They failed to mention also that Winter Drive has to be the worst street that I have ever been on. It is broken in several different places and buckled up (or down) depending, in several different places. I am very disappointed that Sikeston would allow their streets to get into that condition. It is very bad for visitors to our community to see.

Rude much?

This is to all the dumbass jerks making left hand turns at the Walmart exit by the McDonald's: Did you NOT see the big "no left turn" sign? Or do you think that the rules don't apply to you? Did you not see the big line of cars backing up behind you while you waited to make your illegal left turn? You are either ignorant or just plain rude. Either way, you shouldn't be behind the wheel. It isn't that complicated -- if you want to make a left turn, use the other exit next to the garden center.

A growling dawg

Come on Dexter, did you really have to decide to hit the century mark against SHS Wednesday night? I think the coach should be ashamed of himself for allowing his girls to run the score up like that. It didn't prove anything to anybody but yourself that you're the big man. To allow you girls to run the score up like that, it shouldn't be done. You should be ashamed of yourself. Next year when Miss Katelyn Heil is not on your team, or a couple of years down the road, I hope you get back what you put out. That's normally what happens, what you put out comes back to you.

Where's the Parade?

I usually buy my Sunday paper from vending machines around town. I want to know if you have taken Parade magazine out of your paper or am I just getting papers without it?

We have not received enough of the magazines to go into every paper. Beginning in January, the number will be increased so one can be included in all Sunday papers.

Both are guilty

The female that had the little boy that died from the hands of the old live-in boyfriend should be arrested and given some prison time. She is just as guilty as he is. Her daughter was removed from the home and I am glad.
