Roundup: Richland slips past Risco in final minutes

RISCO -- The Richland Rebels rallied from a three-point deficit with less than a minute remaining to defeat Risco 75-70 Friday night and stop a three-game losing streak.

Richland led 53-46 heading into the fourth but Risco fought back to take the late lead before the Rebels came through in the end. Richland hit 18-of-22 free throws and were perfect in the final 30 seconds to help seal the win.

"I'm real proud of our kids," said Risco coach Brandon Blankenship. "Richland is a good team and they are state-ranked but our kids battled. I think we are headed in the right direction."

Richland (15-5) was led by Drew Thornton's 28 points while Mikey Latham added 19 and Mac Thornton 14.

Risco (8-8) got 20 points apiece from Brandon Bennett and Zack Williams. Chris Pavy chipped in 11.

Richland will be back in action Monday when they host Marquand and Risco will host Delta C-7 on Monday.

SCOTT CITY -- East Prairie used a strong second half to earn a road win over Scott City 46-41 Friday night.

Scott City led 25-19 at halftime but the Eagles outscored the Rams 27-16 in the second half to get the win.

Connor Scott led East Prairie (5-11) with 15 points and Dustin Caldwell added 10.

Scott City (3-12) were led by Landon Robert's 15 points.
