BENTON -- Taking on Oran in the championship game Monday evening, the Scott County Central Braves had little trouble defending their Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament title.

Led by Otto Porter's 31-points, the Braves were able to build a 47-point halftime lead before to rolling to a 99-47 win.

"When we came out and played Chaffee (in the semifinals) on Saturday they tried to slow us down a little bit," Scott Central head coach Kenyon Wright said. "We just tried to match up to Oran a little bit better, keep the pressure going and it worked.

"(Our players) caused some turnovers and got us scoring."

Oran (11-5) saw it's only lead of the night when Preston Scherer hit a 3-pointer less than a minute into the game to put the Eagles up 3-2.

It wasn't long after that when the Braves (14-2) kicked off a 19-0 run to start pulling away from Oran, ending the first quarter with a 20-point advantage.

Running away before the half, Scott Central got 10 and six points from Otto Porter and LaMarcus Steward respectively as part of a 32-point scoring outburst in the second that left the Braves with an imposing 59-12 lead at the break.

Though Oran's offense was able pick up the pace in the second half, scoring a combined 35 points in the final two frames, another 40 points from the Braves prevented any chance at an Eagle comeback.

"The kids wanted to come in here and get this conference championship and they got that accomplished," Wright said. "They came in here, had their heads screwed on straight and they focused a bit better tonight than the other night."

Following Otto Porter's game-high 31 points, Stewart Johnson and Dominique Porter put up 17 and 15 points for the Braves respectively.

Making it a sweep for the Braves, Scott Central's junior varsity won the championship on their side of the tournament as well with a 81-36 win over Chaffee.
