Chaffee gets past Advance

East Prairie falls to Saxony

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Red Devils banged out 11 hits and escaped with a 5-4 win over the visiting Advance Hornets on Monday in Chaffee.

Chaffee's Cody Payne and Andrew Terhune each had three hits for the Red Devils while Daniel Dooley and Jason Cicardi added two hits apiece.

Alex Davie picked up the win in five innings of work. He gave up two earned runs on five hits. He also struck out nine.

Chaffee (2-0) will travel to Cape Central on Wednesday.

Saxony 10, East Prairie 7

JACKSON -- The East Prairie Eagles scored four runs in the top of the seventh but could not overcome the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders on Monday losing 10-7.

Aaron Miller, Connor Scott and Ryan Mathis each had two hits for East Prairie. Nathan Maynard also hit a home run.

Scott received the loss on the mound.

East Prairie (0-1) hosts Advance today.
