Harper-led Bulldogs down Marion, Ill., 5-2

MARION, Ill. -- The Sikeston Bulldogs went on the road and defeated Marion, Ill., 5-2 on Monday afternoon.

Sikeston's Luke Keefer led off the game with a home run to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead but Marion answered back in the bottom of the inning when Brok Webb delivered a two-run double.

That would be all that Bulldog hurler Drew Harper would allow, as Sikeston shut the Wildcats down the rest of the contest.

Harper pitched a complete game, allowing two runs and five hits while walking two, hitting two batters and striking out two on 97 pitches. He also delivered an RBI single in Sikeston's four-run fourth inning and later scored a run as well. Tyler Anderson, Nathan Rodgers and Trent McMillan also scored runs in the inning.

Sikeston (7-2) will travel to Charleston today to take on the Bluejays at 4 p.m.

South Pemiscot 8, East Prairie 7

EAST PRAIRIE -- The South Pemiscot Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the seventh to defeat East Prairie 8-7 on Monday afternoon.

Trailing 7-4 entering the final frame, the Bulldogs plated four runs and then shut down the Eagles in the bottom of the inning to improve to 4-4 on the season.

Jordan Carter led South Pemiscot at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 including two doubles with three runs scored and two RBIs. Austin Wagner and Hunter Williams were both 2-for-4 at the plate while Logan Carter and Harley Grimes were each 2-for-3.

Aaron Miller led East Prairie at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Connor Scott was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Zach Downing was 2-for-3.

Grimes picked up the win for the Bulldogs, throwing 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing one earned run and three hits while striking out two.

Scott got the start for East Prairie, throwing six innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out eight and walking one. Ryan Trankler was saddled with the loss, pitching the seventh allowing four runs on five hits with one strikeout.

Kennett 11, NMCC 0

NEW MADRID -- Jumping out to an early six run lead, the Kennett Indians defeated New Madrid County Central 11-0 thanks in large part to a perfect game thrown by Andy Lack.

Lack went all five innings, recording nine strikeouts in the process.

NMCC (3-6) will host Cape Central today.

Holcomb 2, Risco 1

HOLCOMB -- After coming back to tie Holcomb in the sixth, the Risco Tigers saw the Hornets pull out a seventh inning run to win 2-1.

Tied at 1-1 with a runner on first and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Holcomb's leadoff hitter Cameron Clark hit a double over the center fielder's head to score the runner all the way from first to end the game.

"It was a great game," Risco coach Brandon Blankenship said. It was a real pitchers' battle. Michael Glover threw well for them and Chris Pavy threw just about as good of a game for us. We played some of the best defense that we've had all year."

The Hornets had the games only two multiple hitters as David McDaniel and Aaron Reeves had three and two hits respectively.

Now at 6-7, the Tigers will host Clarkton today at 4 p.m.

Scott City 22, Egyptian 5

EGYPTIAN -- Highlighted by grand slam from Heath Pobst, the Scott City Rams defeated Egyptian 22-5 in five innings on the mercy rule.

The Rams also got a home run from Jamie Scholz as part of a 15 hit performance that included a nine run rally in the third inning.

Scholz, Pobst, Landon Robert, Brett Dirnberger, Austin Atchley and Ryan Fortner all had two hits for Scott City, who improve to 6-5-1 on the year.

GIDEON -- The New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles continued their unbeaten streak on Monday defeating Gideon 9-3.

Michaela Townsend picked up the win for NMCC pitching all seven innings and striking out five. She gave up three hits and two walks as well.

Dallas Campbell led the Lady Eagles at the plate going 3 for 5 with a double. Mary Clara Hayes, Katie Rausch and Anna Manley each went 2 for 4 as well. Courtney Masterson chipped in a double.

NMCC (10-0) will host Portageville on Thursday.

Malden Triad

MALDEN -- The Kelly Hawks golf team placed second at a Malden Triad on Monday with a team score of 173.

Kennett came away with the top score of 170 while Malden took third with a 210.

Brandon Housman led Kelly with a 40, Derrick Garner shot a 42 and Josh Roberts had a 44 on the day. Jacob Buell shot a 47, Dilan Rucker had a 53 and Taylor Beggs shot a 66.
