Police officer killed; another injured

CARUTHERSVILLE - A Caruthersville police officer was killed and another injured as they tried to stop a vehicle driven by a suspect wanted for assault and auto theft.

Caruthersville Police officer Evan Burns, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene of the early-morning accident on Highway 84. Also injured was Richard Altice, who was taken to the hospital at Hayti for treatment.
