FREDERICKTOWN -- A record setting performance from forward Brandon Goodwin led the Sikeston Bulldogs to a 10-0 blowout over the Fredericktown Blackcats on Monday.

Goodwin scored the first five goals of the game as Sikeston took a 6-0 lead into the half, finishing the night with seven to set a new school record.

"It wasn't like we were feeding him the ball to set the record," Bulldogs' coach Doyle Noe said. "He was just hustling the whole game trying to put himself in a good position to get scoring opportunities."

Hunter Williams had two goals on the contest and Chase Baron one to round out the scoring.

Williams led the team in assists with three while Goodwin, Tyler McClinton, Josh Bill, Tyler Neal and Michael Gipson contributed one each.

Besides adding an assist to the Bulldogs' cause, goalie Gipson had a big night in net, recording his eighth shutout of the year to tie the school record for shutouts in a season that he and Scott Droddy already shared.

Opening Monday night with a junior varsity contest, Sikeston shut out the Blackcats 3-0 with freshman Hunter Taylor scoring all three goals. Fellow freshman Layton Jones had two assists.

On the varsity side, the Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins in St. Louis this weekend, beating Pacific 7-2 and Summit Christian 4-3.

Goodwin scored the game-winning goal on the Summit Christian game with Williams combining for four goals over the two game span. With his two goals in Monday's win over the Blackcats, Williams sits at 20 goals on the year.

Noe said of Williams, "Hunter has been a big contributor all year. His assist totals are right on par with his scoring."

Sikeston now stands at 13-4 on the season and on the verge of eclipsing last season's recording setting campaign of 15 wins. The odds of this year's team passing that win total look good as four regular season games remain before the start of the district tournament.

Looking for win No. 14, Sikeston will travel to Carbondale, Ill., to play today at 5 p.m. before coming home to play Cape Central on Thursday at 5 p.m.
