Ferry continues to be plagued by winds
EAST PRAIRIE - The Dorena-Hickman Ferry has continued to be plagued by high winds today.
The ferry resumed service at 7 a.m., today, after being closed much of Sunday afternoon due to winds that reached 47 miles per hour and waves in excess of 4 feet. However, weather has continued to be an issue.
While the ferry has made several trips across the Mississippi River early today, high winds have forced Captain Ed Floyd to re-evaluate the weather every half hour to determine if it is safe for the ferry to operate on an hour by hour basis. He suggests that anyone who plans to cross the ferry today call ahead before coming to the ferry landing.
The number to call to determine if the Dorena-Hickman Ferry is operating is (731) 693-0210.
