MILAN, Tenn. - Louis C. Daugherty, 81, formerly of Portageville, Mo., died Dec. 30, 2011, at Milan.

Born Sept. 11, 1930, in Granite City, Ill., to the late Charles H. and Goldie B. Sanders Daugherty, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville where he served as a deacon for 14 years. Ordained in October 1967, he also served as a trustee and taught Sunday school. One of the original partners of Delta Auto Parts and Sales, he served as the president until time of his retirement. He served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a 32nd degree Mason.

On July 7, 1957, in Portageville, he married Louise Inman, who preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 2000.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles "Gene" Daugherty and Jerry Daugherty.

Survivors include: one son, Louie Daugherty of Hardin, Ky.; one daughter and son-in-law, Lou Ann and Larry Wilson of Milan, Tenn; one brother, Everett Daugherty of Portageville; and one grandchild.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the DeLisle Funeral Home where a Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Revs. Regional Grant, Walter Hammon and Brian Henson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery with military rites.
