Bert Wilmurth
CHARLESTON -- Alberta Novola "Bert" Wilmurth, 78, formerly of East Prairie, died Jan. 9, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 28, 1933, at Tuckerman, Ark., to the late Ellis and Babe Taylor Bowen, she was a 1953 graduate of Grubbs High School in Grubbs, Ark. She had lived most of her life in East Prairie where she was a member of the First General Baptist Church. She was employed at the Bertrand Nursing Center and then with Walmart at Sikeston for a number of years until her retirement.
On Dec. 14, 1956, she married Billy Woodrow Wilmurth who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1981.
Surviving are: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Duane Lee and Janet Wilmurth of St. Louis and James Ellis Wilmurth and Calvin Eugene and Terri Kay Wilmurth of Charleston; two sisters, Mary Emory of Bradford, Ark., and Ola Staggs of Hohenwald, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Raymond Hannah, pastor of the First General Baptist Church in East Prairie, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Branston Branam, Jeff Bright, Frankie Day, Brent Horton, Jerry McClain III and Tim Wynne.
