Clean up continues after spill at Sikeston Power Plant
SIKESTON - Clean up continues today following the explosion of a trailer containing hydrochloric acid at the Sikeston Power Plant.
At 4:30 a.m. Sunday, officials at the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities Power Plant reported the explosion at the facility. "The catastrophic failure of this container resulted in a 7,500-gallon spill," said Lt. Jim McMillen, public information officer with the Sikeston Department of Safety. The Sikeston DPS haz-mat team responded to the site to evaluate the incident.
According to McMillen the spill was confined to the immediate area of the incident and no one was injured during the release.
