Boy Scouts learn about welding, earn badges
SIKESTON -- Ever been fascinated about how metals are welded and shaped? Local Boy Scouts learned those skills, and even managed to get a merit badge or two on the way.
The Sikeston Career and Technology Center offered instruction on the Welding and Metalwork merit badges to four local Boy Scout troops on Monday.
Instruction for the two badges consisted of a safety seminar, where Scouts learned about proper techniques. Then various lab activities took place, such as a cutting station for the Welding badge and a portable forge for the Metalwork badge.
