DPS officer unintentionally discharges gun, shot in leg

SIKESTON -- A Sikeston Department of Public Safety officer was hospitalized on Sunday after accidentally shooting himself in the leg.

The incident began at about 4 p.m. Sunday when numerous people were reported fighting in the area of Clayton and Williams streets, according to Capt. Jim McMillen, public information officer with DPS.
