Scott County Central Bravettes win first district title in five years

SIKESTON -- For the first time in five years, the Scott County Central Bravettes hoisted a district championship during the Class 1, District tournament at Scott County Central Friday.

The Bravettes defeated the Delta Lady Bobcats 79-25 to claim their 25th district title in their school's history and end Delta's stranglehold of 12-straight district championships.

Michala Blissett led SCC's charge with 26 points. Ann Dennis added 21 while Derien Ditto chipped in with 19 including nine in the second quarter that spurred a 25-2 run.

The Bravettes led 42-11 at halftime.

Scott County Central will play Naylor, who defeated Koshkonong 64-49, on Tuesday at Bloomfield High School at 7:30 p.m.
