Medical record changes coming
SIKESTON -- Missouri Delta Medical Center is about to go live with its new state-of-the-art data center in Cape Girardeau -- no foolin' this time.
In order to meet "meaningful use" requirements for Medicaid and Medicare incentives offered under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, Missouri Delta partnered with SoutheastHEALTH to develop Servir, according to Gary Gaines, director of information services for MDMC.
"It helped both of us on the cost of the whole project," Gaines explained. "By working on the project together we were able to share resources."
The program included building a facility, located at 623 South Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau.
"That's where all the hardware is housed," Gaines said, for both data storage and the networking system.
The facility is also now where Southeast's information systems department is based, he noted, and has training rooms equipped with almost 40 computers to help personnel make the transition.
MDMC is currently still using its old Meditech health care information system, Gaines said, but is just about ready to make the switch.
