White's not right

These little old gals and these little old boys live together for 10 or 15 years and they're engaged and they have 3 or 4 kids, then when the old gal walks down the aisle she wears everything white. I don't think if you have 2 or 3 kids following in behind you, you don't need to be wearing white and all the stuff. Go to the justice of the peace and get married and forget about it. That's ridiculous.

Thanks for making trip

In response to the story "Sikeston grounds Pilots 87-49." The legendary Cairo coach should be praised for making the trip over.

What's inside that counts

Morehouse Elementary was a wonderful school, great teachers, a caring principal and you, the school board, took all of that away. You put our students in Lee Hunter and now it is overcrowded. You caused the problem, but you want us to fix it. There is nothing wrong with the schools we already have. Renovation, maintenance and the every day upkeep is all that is needed. It's what's inside that counts. I used to be a teacher, recently retired, so I know. Fancy new buildings will not change a thing when it comes to their education. I will vote no on this school bond proposal. I hope you do, too.

A word about the upcoming school bond issue. You have until March 12 to register to vote if you aren't a current voter in the district. Residents of Morehouse, Miner and the Holmes subdivision, be reminded you are in this district. You can find a map of this district on the Sikeston City Data website. This is a very, very costly issue that will last the district residents for 20 years if it is passed. It will make the R-6 district the second highest level in the Bootheel. It is important to get out and vote and I know the Morehouse residents remember what can happen.

Hang 'em high

I have read about the stay of the execution of the Kansas City killer ad they say the drug is cruel and painful. What are they thinking? What about the 15-year-old girl that was raped and murdered? Was that not painful? Let's give the jury one week to make a decision and get back to the rope and tree, or maybe the firing squad. That will stop this kind of crime 100 percent.
