SPEAKOUT

Let me chime in

To the individual that called SpeakOut about the 12 o'clock chimes going off here in Miner. They are upset that it might wake up the kids or somebody sleeping. I'll be darned. What about these trucks and Suburbans with these loud pipes that go up and down Harrison Street all the time, day in and day out? I guess they don't wake up the kids. The chimes only last for a few seconds. These idiots that run up and down the road, seems like they last forever. I guess you are one of the ones that drives the trucks and keeps the rest of us awake and set at the stop sign and grind them out. I guess you have a legitimate complaint. I thought the chimes sounded pretty good and was wondering where they came from. I'm glad you told me. Everybody has an opinion until you start sharing them, and that's when things get sticky. If you have a problem, call the source. If you don't have enough gumption to call the source, quit crying in the paper about it. Toodeloo

Back off Barack

Please leave our president alone. This goes out to Michael Jensen, David Limbaugh, all the other rich Republicans and even all the other Republicans that aren't so rich. With Obamacare, you keep cutting it down, but with Missouri, if you would have extended the Medicaid there wouldn't be a problem. The federal government would have picked up 100 percent the first year, 94 percent the next year and so on. Blame it on Missouri, not President Obama. Another thing, he was handed a raw deal when he went into office, but you guys can't see that. I think he is doing an excellent job so why don't you leave him alone? In other words, if he was a Republican, you people would be falling over him.

"And so on." Do you have any idea how expensive this will be in future years? Let me answer - no you don't. Medicaid currently siphons 1/3 of the state budget. What's left pays for minor items like education. The problem is not "rich" Republicans. It's spend-like-crazy Democrats.

Investing in the future

As a senior citizen, I am very concerned about how my tax dollars are spent. I do not have the ability to go out and earn extra income. However, over the years I have observed that a community that does not provide the best environment and teachers for educating our children is doomed will wither and die. Is there a price to pay for good schools - certainly. The rewards and returns far exceed the price paid. I want our community to grow and thrive. I'm going to vote yes on April 8 for our schools, community and most importantly our future - our children.

Getting real and personal

In regard to the school system expansion and remodeling and the taxes, all I've heard anybody talk about was real estate taxes. What they're not putting out that your personal property tax is gonna be figured into that too which will make it higher than what they are predicting.
