TENNIS

Farmington 9, Sikeston 0

FARMINGTON -- The Sikeston Bulldogs tennis team fell 9-0 to host farmington on Thursday.

"First off, Farmington is a very solid team that will be one of the favorites to win team districts," Sikeston head coach Russ Dial said. "They beat us in every aspect of the game in varsity doubles. Our varsity doubles teams committed far too many unforced errors, were caught out of position and had far too many double faults. However, the varsity singles scored didn't reflect the quality of our play.

"We were very competitive and battled until the final point of each match."

Dial added, "Our number one, Layton jones, came very close to upsetting one of the district's best players. Hopefully by districts we will be contenders. We are getting better."

The junior varsity fell, only playing doubles matches, fell 1-2 with the team of Anthony Le and Mohsin Rajput collecting the Bulldogs only win of the day.
