Polls don't count

I am impressed by those who voted in Tuesday's Sikeston R-6 School Bond election. They are far more intelligent than some people gave them credit for. It is a shame so many thousands of dollars were spent before someone checked out what the voters would approve. I have been on the school board and have a pretty good idea. Ask a current board member how many thousands of dollars have already been spent on the architectural fees alone. Someone did not do their homework. I am proud of the people who voted in this district. Thanks.

Money talks

Republicans are not hard to figure out. The Missouri Chamber of Commerce has hired Senator Christopher Bond to lobby for the elements of Obamacare. The Chamber is very Republican and Senator Bond strongly opposed Obamacare when he was on the payroll of the people of Missouri. Despite all the bad propaganda, probably the Republican Party, of how bad Obamacare is, either it has very good features, which the Republicans denied, or money is more important to people than some principle.

Fixation, not abuse

This is regarding the kidnapping in Miner. They have reported that it was domestic abuse, but it was not domestic abuse. It was a co-worker that traveled from Maryland to here who was fixated on this little girl. It was not domestic abuse. I wish they would get their information correct before they start spouting. It was NOT domestic abuse.

In a rut

The Baseline Road in Scott County has big semi ruts in it from the trucks taking grain to the Cargill grain elevator. These ruts are really dangerous on a rainy day. It's time to repave the Baseline Road.

Dealers and drunks

I'm concerned about the housing authority near Sikeston. How come there is so many drug dealers living there? It has been allowed to go on after being reported time after time to the person running the place. They don't do anything about it. There are people there dealing meth and drunks stumbling around falling in holes. Some of them, by the way, are not the elderly, they are in their 30's, 40's and 50's. I'd like to know. I thought that was supposed to be a safe house for the elderly and the disabled. That needs to be checked into.

Can you hear us now?

I hope that after the election and the school bond issue defeat, that the school board and the school administration will learn to listen to the public and ask for community input on any increase they need.
