Bouncing back open?

Since the Village Green Shopping Center is being demolished, the mattress store that was in there, are they going out of business or are they going to relocate?

As of now, we know of no plans they have to relocate.

Clean it and it will drain

Regarding Sunday's June 8 paper about citizens helping Sikeston with drainage issues. From Northwest Street west on Salcedo Road, the culverts are stopped up on the end before it goes down the hill. If those culverts were cleaned out, the water would drain off Northwest Street down the hill into the drainage ditch like it was designed to do. There are two houses out on the south side of Salcedo Road where the culverts are stopped up. If you clean those culverts, it will drain.

Food stamp disapproval

Mike, I was just reading your editorial in Sunday's paper and you're dead-on about them food stamps. Them little ol' gals sell their food stamps to buy drugs and keep up men and buy stuff they don't even need. That's why the kids don't get the food cause mama's busy selling the food stamps and buying stuff she don't need and feeding every man that comes around that's too lazy to work. That's what happens to the food stamps for the kids. I don't want to see a child hungry. I will not see a child hungry if I know of it and can do anything about it. They need to stop mama from selling the food stamps, buying drugs and keeping up men. That would help a lot.
