EAST PRAIRIE -- An East Prairie woman has been jailed on endangering the welfare of a child and drug charges.

According to a report from the East Prairie Police Department, Nicole L. White, 29, is charged with first degree endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. She is being held in a Mississippi County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.

At approximately 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, officer Joleda Douglas and animal control officer Benjamin Miller responded to a call of a dangerous dog running at large that appeared to be attacking a small child at 309 Third St. Upon arrival, two neighbors had detained the dog and secured the small child. After several failed attempts to make contact with a parent or guardian inside, both Douglas and Miller entered the residence. Neither a parent nor guardian was located inside the home, outside or in the area.
