SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man is in jail on drug charges after being arrested during a Street Crimes Task Force operation.

Desmond Jerrod Minner, 36, was arrested after a detective with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety spotted Minner driving a vehicle on W. Murray Lane at about 6:10 p.m. Friday.

The detective, Flint Dees, had been advised Thursday that Minner's drivers license was suspended so he initiated a vehicle stop on Carroll Street.

After placing Minner under arrest for driving while suspended, Dees noted a plastic shopping bag sitting on the back seat which upon investigation was found to contain 111 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana.

Before leaving the scene, Dees also located a bag Dees said he believes thrown from the vehicle which contained 64 grams of methamphetamine.

Minner denied owning either bag.

Minner is charged with second degree felony drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

As of press time he was in the Mississippi County Detention Center with a cash only bond of $50,000.
