On Nov. 20 Sikeston High School Speech and Debate Team traveled to a speech and debate tournament hosted by Jackson High School, where 20 teams competed. Sikeston took 15 students, and five of those students made it to the final round. Of the finalists, four received trophies. The speech and debate team also came home with a second place finish in sweepstakes, which declares an overall winner of the tournament. Those receiving trophies included: freshman Brylie Noe, first place original oratory; sophomore Cooper Grant. second place original oratory; senior, Zach Grady, first place extemporaneous speaking; and sophomore Annie Waggoner, third place poetry. This was Noe's second first-place finish in the first two tournaments of the year.
