Officers work to keep flames from neighboring homes while fighting a fire on Wilson Street, one of two fires they responded to on Saturday night. The first fire reported to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety was at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday at 803 Woodruff. The blaze was the result of a chimney fire. Shortly thereafter, a second structure fire was reported to DPS at 504 Wilson St. Upon officers' arrival, officers found the abandoned structure engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is thought to be suspicious and is being investigated, according to Capt. James McMillen with Sikeston DPS.
