During a pep assembly on Jan. 30, representatives from the Sikeston Ladies Auxiliary 3174 presented the winners of the annual Patriot's Pen essay contest. The theme for this year's essay was "Why I Appreciate America's Veterans." Sydney Dittlinger, eighth grade student at Kelly Middle School, was awarded first place with Nathan Kiehl, eighth grade student at Kelly Middle School, earning second place.
