SCC FBLA chapter earns top honors at leadership event

SIKESTON -- The Scott County Central Future Business Leaders of America, or FBLA, represented their school and chapter well during the District 15 Leadership Conference Feb. 9 at the University Center on the Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

SCC FBLA had 17 students attend the conference, and 10 of those members came home with medals for placing in the top five in the events they competed. They were: Colten Winter and Robert Cain, first place in entrepreneurship; Lidnsy Hawkins, second place in network concepts; Arista Johnson, second place in electronic career portfolio; Colten Winter and Robert Cain, second place in public service announcement; Colten Winter, second place in public speaking II; Madeline Cookson, third place in business procedures; Drake Kesler, Matthew Blissett and Lane Kesler, third place in banking and financial systems; Daniel Johnson, third place in impromptu speaking; Shelby Penrod and Arista Johnson, fourth place in business presentation; Drake Kesler, Matthew Blissett and Lane Kesler, fourth place in hospitality management; Drake Kesler and Matthew Blissett, fourth place in sports management; and Ziarie Davis, fifth place in word processing.

Also, at the conference there were elections for district officers for the 2015-16 school year, and Shelby Penrod was elected to the position of District President. Arista Johnson was approved to run for Missouri FBLA sState Secretary in April at Springfield.

The following students will compete at the State Leadership Conference April 12-14 in Springfield: Madeline Cookson, Alexis Graham, Ziarie Davis, Robert Cain, Colten Winder and Lidnsy Hawkins.
