New Madrid County R-1 students win recognition at FBLA District Conference

MALDEN -- Members of the New Madrid County R-1 Future Business Leaders of America Chapter earned numerous honors during the 2015 FBLA District 16 Leadership Conference on Feb. 6, in Malden.

Winning recognition at the District 16 Leadership Conference were: Sidney Cummins, Sarah Hupp and Payton Jones, first place Entrepreneurship; Katie Curry, first place Database Design and Applications; Jessye Griffin, first place Client Service; Sarah Hupp, first place Insurance and Risk Management; and Erica Palmer, first place FBLA Principles and Procedures.

Second place winners included: Derrica Brown and Katie Curry, Desktop Publishing; Monique Fahy, Help Desk; Karlie Frazier, FBLA Principles and Procedures; Jenna Machiran, Job Interview; Katherine Madigan, Healthcare Administration; Eddie Maxwell, Computer Problem Solving and in Cyber Security; and Josh Williams, Introduction to Business.

Those earning third place honors were: Lindsey Biggs, Insurance and Risk Management; Jenna Machiran, Business Procedures; and Shelby Smith, Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure.

Receiving fourth place honors were: Sidney Cummins,Accounting I; Matthew Givens, Introduction to Business and in Business Math; Kaitlyn Lawfield, Insurance and Risk Management; Emilee Palmer, Economics and in Spreadsheet Applications; Grace Riley, Business Communication; and Kallie Turner, Word Processing.

Fifth place honors went to: Madison Adams,Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure; Sidney Cummins, Business Law; Sarah Hupp, Healthcare Administration; Payton Jones, Computer Applications; Jenna Machiran, Business Communication; Emma Maloyed, Personal Finance; Cole Nowell, Economics; Clara Porter, Insurance and Risk Management; and Grace Riley, Business Procedures.

FBLA is a career and technical student organization for all high school students participating in business programs. Over 450 members and advisers representing 18 chapters throughout the district met to elect officers, participate in a leadership workshop, and compete in the district leadership awards program.
