A real man

My Dad had died sometime ago, and my mother has gone to live in assisted living. As we were going through her stuff today, I found my Dad's journal. And that journal was talking about when he had gone to his Dad and told him that he wanted to marry my mother. Some people may think this is corny, but with Mother's Day coming, I think it's very great. He said, "I was talking to my Dad about how to treat a lady. And to tell him that I was to be married soon. My Dad sat me down and said, "Son, a real man never hurts a woman. Remember this and be very careful. Do not make a woman cry because God counts all her tears. Remember this, a woman came out of a man's rib, not his feet to be walked upon, not from his head, so he could be superior over her. But from his side to be equal, under his arms to be protected and next to his heart to be loved. Son, remember this, a real man will never hurt a woman." I think that's pretty great. The only thing I can say is, I miss my PawPaw and I miss my Dad. I'm very proud that in my bloodline, back through history, came from a very long line of old Southern Pentecostal preachers.

I'm stumped

I have been reading about the new Three Rivers College in Sikeston, so today, I did a drive around the new college. I noticed one thing they forgot. The parking lot is at least 100 yards from school and no handicapped parking at all. How can a handicapped person go to that school if they can't get to the front door? I did notice that the teachers are 3-feet from the back door. The architect stumped his toe on this project.

Oh, SNAP!

I was reading Mike's editorial about SNAP. They should limit what them little old gals can buy. That should be for good nutritional food. It just burns me up when I get behind some of them gals and all they've got in their buggies is chips and candy and sodas and stuff. They don't do nothing but sit on the couch and try to have more babies. Why don't they use that for food they can cook like beans and potatoes and stuff like that? I agree with Mike. If they need more food stamps at the end of the line, it's because they buy junk at the beginning of the month. I'm all for food stamps for people who need them. It's a wonderful program. But some of these little gals are just ridiculous and buy all kinds of snacks and go to McDonald's and use their food stamps. This is unreal how they do. I agree with everything Mike said. It's strange to me the elderly and disabled that have worked their whole lives get $16 in food stamps and these gals that lay around and have babies get $700-$800 a month. The elderly people buy food with theirs, they wouldn't buy junk. I just don't understand about that.
