Optimist essay contest winners were rewarded with lunch and gold, silver and bronze medals from the Optimist Club as well as prize money provided by China Buffet. Pictured from left are: Jason Rapert, Sikeston High School junior counselor; SHS junior Christina Gaines, first place; SHS senior Louis Galang, third place; Linda Huang of the China Buffet; and Laveta Williams, Optimist Club member. Not pictured is SHS freshman Molly Fader, second place. Gaines' first place essay has been sent to the next level where Gaines will have the opportunity to win scholarship money.a
