Johnson house destroyed by fire

The house of Roger Johnson on 26 St. Hwy. T, just south of Portageville was destroyed by fire last Tuesday afternoon. The fire call to the Portageville Fire Department came about 3:15. As of press time Tuesday, the results of how the fire began is not known. Two other fire departments, Wardell and Gideon, were also called to the scene. They did not get back to the fire shed until 1:30 Wednesday morning.

Earlier that afternoon, the Portageville Fire Department was called to another structure fire at 302 Haynes Drive for a trailer fire. The trailer was totally engulfed when the fire department arrived. The department received that call at 2:56. In both instances, the properties were vacant, and no reported injuries. The Missouri State Fire Marshall's office have been called out for the fires.
