Down on the corner

I don't know why they just don't open marijuana stands on the corner and sell it like lemonade. Beats all I ever saw. I know marijuana helps cancer patients and people that are in severe pain. I know they need it and I am glad they discovered that it will help. But people that don't need it are gonna get prescriptions so they can sit around and act crazy and not get into any trouble because they have a prescription. I think that is just plain stupid. I think that's getting out of control. If they are gonna sell people drugs, they shouldn't arrest them for having drugs and using them. I'm all for cancer patients and fibromyalgia and people that really need it for pain. Marijuana is the only thing that can help them. I'm for that. But there will be so many idiots that get it that don't really need it.

Take control in the country

I just saw where Sheriff Walters took a $2,000 donation from Scott County farmers to help catch rural thieves. Why doesn't the "honorable" sheriff send all of these deputies running around Sikeston out to the rural areas? Sikeston has a very good police force led by a very good chief. I believe the DPS can handle things in the city, maybe the sheriff can handle things in the country. Or maybe not. Just saying. . .

Diesel get 'em

I recently read where Charleston passed a two-cent sales tax on diesel at the fuel pump. I read where Goode wrote asking everyone in Charleston to vote for it. He later stated 99 percent of the people in Charleston would not be affected by the tax. He also stated that most of the people being taxed would be truckers passing through. He said the tax would bring in around $350,000 per year. Being a trucker, I don't think it is my place to pay for the maintenance of Charleston's streets. I cannot believe the people of Charleston is that stupid! Almost everything they have is brought to them by truckers. It sounds as if Charleston has a budget problem. And all their city manager can come up with is to rob passing truckers. At least Frank and Jesse wore masks! It sounds to me like Goode cannot do his job. If so, the people of Charleston should send him packing and hire someone who can do the job. I have contacted a trucker newspaper and sent them the paper where Goode was almost begging the people of Charleston to vote for it. We are also asking for every trucker that reads the trucker newspaper to boycott the Flying J and Casey's in Charleston and go to Matthews. I hope that we can have enough affect to maybe close the Flying J and Casey's in Charleston at least to diesel sales.
